Green Bluff & Spokane Wine Country: A Scenic Day Trip

Farm Country Just Minutes from Spokane

Green Bluff is a cluster of family farms, orchards, and wineries perched on a plateau just 25 minutes northeast of Spokane. It's one of the region's best-kept secrets — a seasonal escape into rolling farmland with Mount Spokane as a backdrop.

The Farm Loop

Green Bluff is organized as a growers' loop you drive between stops. Depending on the season you'll find:

  • Spring & summer: cherries, strawberries, lavender fields, and farm markets
  • Fall: the famous apple harvest, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and cider
  • Year-round: wineries, cideries, bakeries, and cozy cafés

Fall is the marquee season — the Apple Festival weekends draw visitors from across the region for U-pick orchards, hot cider donuts, and hayrides.

Sip Local: Wineries & Cideries

The Spokane area has a growing wine scene, and Green Bluff is a great place to sample it. Stop at one of the hilltop tasting rooms for local reds and whites, or try a crisp hard cider pressed from the orchards next door.

Prefer to stay closer to town? Downtown Spokane's Cork District features walkable tasting rooms if you'd rather not drive between stops.

Make a Day of It

Bring a cooler for your farm-fresh haul, wear comfortable shoes for orchard walking, and plan a relaxed lunch at one of the on-site farm kitchens.

Why You Need a Car

Green Bluff is a driving loop with stops spread across country roads — there's no public transit out here. Your own rental car lets you move between farms and wineries at your own pace and haul home boxes of apples, cider, and local finds.

An SUV or crossover from High River Rentals is perfect: plenty of cargo room and an easy, comfortable drive on the rural roads.
